It is with great humility and a deep sense of responsibility that I assume the role of Vice Chancellor at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM). I am truly honoured to lead one of the province’s most dynamic and rapidly evolving academic institutions.
I join AWKUM at a critical moment—one that presents both challenges and opportunities. While we are navigating temporary financial constraints, I am encouraged by the firm commitment and support expressed by both Federal and Provincial government stakeholders. With their backing and the collective dedication of our faculty, staff, and students, I am confident that we will emerge stronger and more resilient, Insha Allah.
Since its establishment in 2009, AWKUM has made remarkable progress. Today, we stand as the second-largest university in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, offering 95 undergraduate and graduate degree programs across 32 academic departments to a thriving student body of over 16,000. Our contribution to higher education is unmatched—five of our campuses have evolved into independent universities, a legacy that speaks volumes about our vision, capacity, and impact.
Our university has also earned national recognition, having been ranked among the top institutions in research performance by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). With a qualified and committed faculty—nearly half of whom hold PhDs—and a capable administrative framework, AWKUM is poised to become a hub of innovation, critical thinking, and academic excellence.
As we move forward, my focus will be on fostering a culture of integrity, inclusivity, and academic freedom. Together, we will work to create an environment that empowers students, supports faculty development, and enhances institutional growth. I firmly believe that with unity of purpose and reliance on Allah سبحانه و تعالى, we can transform AWKUM into a leading center of learning, research, and societal development.
May the Almighty guide us all in fulfilling this noble mission. Ameen.
