Establishing the Department of International Relations at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan in September 2015 is a great achievement. International Relations is a unique subject in all the social sciences keeping in view the changing and changed nature of International Politics, the increase in nature and frequency of the various social, political, economic, and environmental conflicts, the role of the state in coping with them, and the rise of various forms of non-state actors.
It was imperative to increase the number of such departments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a considering Pakistan’s role in the war on terror and the Socio-Political and economic unrest in the entire Pakhtun belt in the aftermath of 9/11. The department has a well-qualified and competent faculty as well as a skilled and energetic support staff.
I firmly believe in a student-oriented and participatory approach. Apart from traditional methods of teaching, the focus is on organizing talks, study circle, lectures, seminars, and conferences. Through constant efforts and cooperation, we aim to make the department second to none.
