Department of Horticulture, AWKUM is a team of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to utilize all the resources and skills to consistently improve the production, efficiency and post-harvest capacities of horticultural plants and commodities and therefore benefit various constituencies in horticultural industries. Horticulture prepares students to meet the challenges of an expanding multibillion-dollar industry. Horticulture is high technology, encompassing production and management in our traditional businesses (both on the farm and in the most advanced controlled environment facilities), marketing and utilization of intensively cultivated high-value crops, provision of horticultural services as technicians, consultants, designers, and educators at all levels, and research in product development, growth regulation, biotechnology, breeding and genetics, and sustainable agriculture. Our research groups/teams offer high-quality academic and research training to undergraduate and graduate students to prepare them with the expertise and abilities required to needed to effectively sustain the wide range of horticultural related careers. Our diverse faculty is fully prepared to disseminate professional and practical knowledge to our students from our teaching, research and extension programs, skilled and technical assistance to peasant’s community and variant range of significance for our horticultural constituency. Horticulture-AWKUM aims to utilize all their humanly and technical facilities to address range of scientific and cultural issues confronted in horticultural industry.
