The Chairperson Department of Biochemistry AWKUM suggested that the Department of Biochemistry can be formed so that the University could keep track of its alumni. Hence, the department came into being in 2011.

The mission of the department is to provide educational, cultural, special benefits and social opportunities to the people of this region.
