Seminar on “Role & Future of Biological Control in Integrated Pest Management (IPM)”

Dr. Ehsan-ul-Haq Senior Scientific Officer (NARC) Islamabad presented a seminar on “Role & Future of Biological Control in Integrated Pest Management (IPM)” at Abdul Wali Khan University Anbar Campus, Swabi. Coordinator Anbar Campus Professor Dr. Mukhtar Alam welcomed the speaker. The speaker shared his experiences for controlling the epidemic pests through biological means. He highlighted the commercial prospects of biological agents in the field of Agriculture and emphasized that insect/pest should be controlled through biological agents instead of insecticide spray. Moreover, he added that by IPM, we cannot only save money but also can protect our environment & public health from residual effects of hazardous pesticides. There was a healthy discussion among the students, faculty members and the guest speaker on various aspects of biological control. At the end the valuable speaker promised that his lab at NARC would provide the facilities, free of cost for practical training of the students of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. The speaker also distributed the printed materials about his experiences of “Biological Control of Insect Pests in Pakistan”.
