Introduction:
It is a unique distinction of the Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan that it established first ever Entrepreneurship Society in the whole of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The initiative of establishing the Entrepreneurship Society was taken by the Department of Management Sciences (Main Campus) and it was brought into existence on December 19, 2011.

Objectives and Aim:
The aim of the society is to produce future entrepreneurs, who would be able to run businesses on their own. The objective of the society is to develop innovative skills, broaden their thinking and to make them financially independent. The Society provides a plat-form to the students, where they express their opinions and share their creative ideas.

Organization:
It is run like a formal organization having its own structure, holds regular meetings and organizes workshops and seminars. The society plans to extend its reach to all the campuses of the university. Entrepreneurship center would be established, where courses on entrepreneurship would be offered and would provide training regarding entrepreneurship to the people at large.

Activities:
The society organizes different activities like workshops and seminars on entrepreneurship. These activities would bring awareness in the students regarding the concept and technique of entrepreneurship. The society also arranges business plan competition in the university and awards prizes and certificates to those who presents best business plans. Currently the society is running two projects, which are sponsored by Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan. One of the projects is known as “Youth Social Enterprise Competition”, this competition has been launched to encourage students to become change-makers. Students are encouraged to think and act innovatively to bring positive change in their communities. The competition inspires students to find creative and innovative solution to the society’s most pressing problems. The winning team will receive a seed funding up to Rs. 100,000 and technical support to implement their idea. The second project is “Show Your Creativity Competition”, the project inspires students to think creatively and innovatively to make money and make a difference. Each student is loaned one thousand rupees and encouraged to make a social impact and profit as much as possible thorough enterprising activities during the course of two weeks.

Linkages:
The society is having linkages with several organizations like Mardan Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan, British Council Pakistan, IBA Karachi, Comsats Pakistan.
