Mr. Saeed Akbar, MS Scholar Department of Management Sciences, has successfully defended his theses under the supervision of Dr. Zahur-ul-Haq, Professor, Department of Economics AWKUM. The external examiner for the defense was Dr. Razaullah, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Sciences, Islamia College University Peshawar.

The theme of his research work was to investigate "The Impact of Macroeconomic Variables on Stock Market Performance in Pakistan"

The main findings of the research were that macroeconomic variables do not determine the stock market performance in Pakistan. Further, Karachi Stock Exchange is not still that developed to be characterized as the leading indicator of the country's economy.

The key policy suggestions were that the government should ensure macroeconomic and political stability in the country and improved law and order as the Karachi Stock Exchange's performance is highly affected by political events and law and order situation of the country. Moreover, investors should be aware and take care of the speculative bubbles in Karachi Stock Exchange.
