Overseas PhD Scholar of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Mr. Izaz Ur Rahman has successfully defended his PhD thesis Titled: NOVEL PARTICLE SWARM OPTIMIZATION ALGORITHMS WITH APPLICATIONS IN POWER SYSTEMS at College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences, Brunel University London, United Kingdom, which is one of the prestigious and high reputed universities of the world. His Thesis was supervised by Professor Zidong Wang IEEE Fellow, a well-known scientist and researcher in Dynamic Systems.

The external examiner was Professor Wen-Hua Chen (CEng, FIMechE, FIET, SMIEEE), a well-known scientist in Autonomous Vehicles (University of Loughborough, Leicestershire, UK). The internal examiner was Dr. Stanislao Lauria, a Senior Lecturer, Brunel University London, UK and the panel was chaired by Dr. Steve Counsell, Reader, Brunel University London, UK. Mr. Izaz Ur Rahman was awarded overseas PhD scholarship, on Oct 25th, 2011, by AWKUM for Brunel University London, UK, in the subject area of Computing Science. His PhD course started on November 1, 2011 and he has completed his PhD studies in about 4 years under the umbrella of Faculty Development Programme. During his PhD, he has published numerous articles in reputed journals and has also attended national and international conferences and workshops.
