Adhering to its key objective of internationalizing Higher Education, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan signed MOU with College of Veterinary Medicine Seoul National University, South Korea, on 5th October, 2015.

Seoul National University was established in 1946 and as per the QS Ranking 2015, it is ranked 36 worldwide while it is the 8th best university of Asia.

On behalf of AWKUM, the MOU was signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali while Dean College of Veterinary Medicine Seoul National University, Prof. Dr. Jae Hong Kim signed it on behalf of Seoul National University. On the occasion, the Registrar, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Dean Faculty of Physical and Numerical Sciences, Principal, College of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Sciences, Provost, Deputy Director HRD, Consultant HRD, Chairman Department of Mathematics and Assistant Director HRD of AWKUM were also present to witness the MOU signing ceremony. While Dr. Sulaiman, Assistant Professor, Department of Bio-Chemistry witnessed MOU signing ceremony at Seoul National University.

By signing this MOU the total number of academic linkages of AWKUM with foreign universities / institutions have now reached 31, as AWKUM has already signed MOUs with reputed universities / institutions around the globe such as University of Durham, UK, University of Southampton, UK, University of ULM, Germany, University of Kentucky, USA, Victoria University Wellington, New Zealand, University of Malaya, Malaysia etc.

Through this MOU, both the universities agreed to collaborate and co-operate for mutual benefits. This allows both the parties to exchange invitations to scholars for lectures, presentations, seminars, academic meetings, discussions, faculty and student exchange programs, participation in conferences colloquia and symposia. Furthermore, the MOU allows both the parties to exchange publications and academic materials.

On the occasion, Prof. Dr. Ali reiterated that AWKUM sticks to its one of the primary objectives: internationalization of higher education, by collaborating with a number of reputed academic institutions around the world. He further added that opportunities will be created for AWKUM faculty and students to participate in various academic activities at Seoul National University and similarly such programs and activities will be arranged at AWKUM as well so that students and faculty of Seoul National University could participate in them.
