10th meeting of the National Assembly's Standing Committee for Federal Education and Professional Training, was held under the Chairmanship of Mr. Gulzar Khan, Member National Assembly, at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan.

In the meeting, members of the committee: Mr. Nazeer (MNA), Dr. ZulfiqarBhatti (MNA), Ms. AsysiaNazTanoli (MNA), Ms. Phyllis Azeem (MNA), Ms. MusarratRafiq (MNA), Ms. ShahidaRehmani (MNA), Dr. NighatShakeel Khan (MNA) and Chaudhry Hamid Hameed (MNA) were present.

Joint Educational Advisor, Ministry of Education, Prof. RafiqTahir, Executive Director HEC, Dr. MazharSaeed and Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Muhammad Iqbalwere also present in the meeting.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali briefed the meeting about the establishment, development and educational activities of the University. He added that AWKUM, in a short span of 6 years and 4 months, stood 12th amongst all the universities across the country. He also added that AWKUM is currently home to more than 8,000 students.

On the occasion, the members applauded the success at which the University has been progressing. The Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Gulzar Khan added that in such a short span, the University earned a name across the country. He also assured that the Committee will place its recommendations, regarding the points raised by the Vice-Chancellor in connection with HEC funding and developmental works, before Federal Minister for Planning, Mr. AhsanIqbal. He also added that the University will be connected with HEC through video link. In the end, Mr. Gulzar Khan reiterated that the solution to most ofour problems lies in quality education and we must invest in it.
