69th Independence Day was celebrated in full swing, at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. In this regard, a grand function was arranged in the Garden Campus. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali was the Chief Guest.
On the occasion, Registrar, Mr. Sher Alam Khan, Director Academics, Prof. Dr. Zahoor Ul Haq, Dean Faculty of Physical and Numerical Sciences, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad, Provost, Mr. Ibrar Hussain, Director ORICS, Mr. Tariq Mehmood, Director Administration, Mr. Pir Asfandyar, heads of all the sections, faculty members, a large number of students and guests were present.
The flag hoisting ceremony took place at 9:00 AM in the Garden Campus. National songs and speech competitions were also organized on the occasion, by the Department of Biotechnology.Gymnastics were also performed, organized by the Department of Health & Physical Education. The gathering prayed for the prosperity of the country and paid tribute to the martyrs of Army Public School Peshawar.
On the occasion, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali reiterated that had Pakistan not been created we would not have had any identity. He further added that we must respect our freedom and independence and should focus on attaining education so that we could take Pakistan to the horizons of success and prosperity. He also said that we can take our country out of all problems that we face today, through attaining higher education.
