7th meeting of the Senate, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, was held on June 30, 2015. The meeting was presided over by the Provincial Minister for Higher Education, Mr. MushtaqGhani.

In the meeting a budget worth Rs. 1035.92 Million was approved for the University, for the fiscal year 2015-16. The meeting also approved minutes of the 6th meeting of the Senate.

This high level meeting was held in Peshawar. In the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali, Secretary Higher Education, Mr. Muhammad Ali Shehzad, Special Secretary Establishment, Mr. Aziz Khan Khattak, Additional Secretary Finance, Mr.RiazUllah, Ex-Secretary Agriculture, Mr. Hussain Zada, Senior Journalist, Mr. Rahim UllahYousafzai, Dean Faculty of Arts (AWKUM), Prof. Dr.Jehanzeb Khalil, Dean Faculty of Sciences (AWKUM), Prof. Dr.Khanzadi Fatima Khattak, Representative of Higher Education, Mr.Zahir Ahmad Awan, Director Sports (AWKUM), Mr.FarooqHussain, Registrar (AWKUM), Mr.SherAlam Khan, Principal Pakhtunkhwa College of Arts (AWKUM), Mr.FazalSattar and Lecture, Mr. Syed Ali Shah were present.

While briefing the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr.Ihsan Ali highlighted the performance of the University and said that in the field of research, the University achieved great success in a short span of time which is evident from the recently announced rankings by the Higher Education Commission in which AWKUM has been ranked 12th countrywide while 2nd in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Prof. Dr. Ali further added that under the supervision of the provincial government, the University is heading smoothly towards its goals. Prof. Dr. Ali also added that other than 61 Indigenous scholarships granted by the University, AWKUM has granted 87 overseas PhD scholarships to its faculty.

Director Finance (AWKUM), Mr. Muhammad Tariq presented the budget for 2015-16 which was unanimously approved in the meeting.

While applauding the Budget Monitoring Policy of the University, Provincial Minister for Higher Education, Mr.MushtaqGhani reiterated that the budget presented is extremely balanced. He further added that the Higher Education Institutions should adopt catering quality education as their top most priority so that in this competitive era our students are capable of competing on international grounds.
