8th Meeting of the Academic Council, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, was held under the Chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali.

In the meeting, Vice-Chancellor, University of Haripur, Prof. Dr. Nasser Ali Khan, Former Vice-Chancellor, Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST), Prof. Dr. Nasir Jamal Khattak, Dean, Faculty of Sciences, AWKUM, Prof. Dr. Khanzadi Fatima Khattak, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Prof. Dr. Jehanzeb Khan Khalil, Director, Academics, Prof. Dr. Zahoor Ul Haq, Registrar, Mr. Sher Alam Khan and all heads of the departments were present.

The meeting approved establishment of 3 new faculties and also approved establishment of Pashto, Psychology, Statistics and Micro-Biology departments. The meeting also approved minutes of Board of Faculty of Science and Board of Faculty of Arts.

While addressing, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali reiterated that more than 30 departments have been established at AWKUM so far and the number of students would pass the 10,000 mark next year. He further added that AWKUM has 145 PhD faculty members. In end, Prof. Dr. Ali said that establishment of new faculties will help strengthen and promote research.
