Professor Dr. Shahid Mansoor, Director National Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE) Faisalabad, National Distinguished Professor and Sitara Imtiaz, Visited Department of Biotechnology, Garden Campus, AWKUM along with his team on April 20, 2015.

Professor Dr. Shahid Mansoor delivered a seminar on “Biotechnology in Socio-Economic Development” in the conference room, ground floor, Academic Block 2B, to the faculty members and students of Departments of Biotechnology, Botany, Biochemistry and Environmental Sciences. He discussed about the challenges faced by the country in Agriculture, Health, Energy, Environment and Education sectors and the opportunities in Biotechnology to contribute in meeting these challenges. During his talk, the Director shared the achievements and contributions of NIBGE in Agriculture, Health, Energy, Environment and Education sectors through Biotechnology research.

Later, in meeting of Chairman and faculty members of Department of Biotechnology AWKUM with the team of researchers from NIBGE, possibilities of research collaborations between the NIBGE and Department of Biotechnology AWKUM and Training of MPhil and PhD Students of the Department in NIBGE were discussed in detail. Director NIBGE assured of all possible assistance from NIBGE.
