The Pharmacy Council of Pakistan (PCP) inspection team visited AWKUM on 7th, April 2015. The team was led by the President of the Council, Dr. Abdur Rashid, Vice-president, Dr. Zafar Iqbal (Meritorious Prof.), members, Dr Syed Umer Jan, from University of Balochistan, Quetta, Mr. Kifayatullah Khan, Chief Drug Inspector, Gilgit Baltistan and Mr. Naziruddin Ahsan Secretary PCP, Islamabad.

The members of PCP inspection team was warm welcomed by the University officials including the Dean Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Khanzadi Fatima Khattak, Director Academics, Prof. Dr. Zahoor-ul-Haq, Registrar, Mr. Sher Alam Khan, Project Manager, Prof. Dr. Said Khan Khalil, Director Admission, Mr. Ibrar, Chairman Department of Pharmacy, Dr. Haroon Khan and faculty members of the department.

A formal presentation on the overview of University and Department of Pharmacy was given by the Chairman, Dr. Haroon Khan followed by physical examination of various facilities as per requirement of PCP. During inspection, the team started from library and checked the number of available books and student issuance criteria, followed by the inspection of allocated building for the Department (Ground and 1st floors in the academic block), class rooms, lecture theaters, seminar hall, girls and boys common rooms, faculty offices, staff room, dealing office, laboratories including computer lab, available instruments and equipments, chemicals, solvents, glassware etc.

The member of PCP also had a meeting with the students in their class rooms and ask about the classes, courses, teachers, practicals and overall academic environment of the department and University.

Throughout the inspection, the PCP members greatly appreciated the available facilities for the teaching and training of Pharmacy students at the department. All the members of the council, especially the president, Dr. Abdur Rashid deeply acknowledged the dynamic leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali (S.I) and considered him as role model for the rest.

At the end, Mr. Sher Alam Khan, Registrar assured the PCP members on the behalf of Vice Canceller, that academic excellence is our motive for which every possible step will be taken and after a couple of months the department will be in a state-of-art status.
