The formal event, on eve of the 7th Foundation Day of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, was held at the Garden Campus. On the occasion, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali hoisted the National as well as the University Flag and cut the Foundation Day Cake to honor the auspicious event.

On the occasion, Dean Faculty of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Khanzadi Fatima, Dean Faculty of Arts, Prof. Dr. Jehanzeb Khalil, Director Academics, Prof. Dr. Zahoor-Ul-Haq, Registrar, Sher Alam Khan, Director Administration, Maj (R) Shireen and Provost, Ibrar Hussain were present.

To further grace the occasion, Prof. Dr. Ali inaugurated the Administration Block at the Garden Campus. In connection with the 7th Foundation Day of the University, several events and activities took place at the Garden Campus which included exhibition of home made utensils by Department of Home Economics, UCW and Paintings exhibition by Pakhtunkhwa College of Arts (PCA). The latter included paintings of Miss Mehwish Khalid, Miss Nadia Khan, Miss Shafaq and Miss Maria Kabir from Fatima Jinnah University Rawalpindi and Mr. Sajid Ali from University of Peshawar. Besides, students of PCA also organized Photography competition.

Furthermore, Department of Health and Physical Education organized 25 kilometer race, cross country race and athletics. Students securing top positions in these competitions were awarded with cash prizes. Students sang national songs and waved the national and university flags.

Prof. Dr. Ali reiterated that academic activities are at its peak in the University. Talking about the 6 years performance of AWKUM, he further added that presently 8,293 students are enrolled in the University who are being taught by the extremely qualified faculty members including 137 PhDs. He also stated that Garden Campus will have the capacity to accommodate 36,000 students. In the end, Prof. Dr. Ali said that in the next couple of years, AWKUM will be counted among the top 10 universities of the country.
