ABDUL WALI KHAN UNIVERSITY MARDAN
The 3rd Convocation of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan was held at the Main Campus.
The Chief Guest, on this auspicious occasion, was Mr. Mushtaq Ghani, Provincial Minister for Higher Education and Pro Vice-Chancellor Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan.
On the occasion, degrees were conferred upon the students of Arts, Education, Public Heath, Public Administration, Business Administration, Botany, Computer Science, Chemistry, Computer Science, Maths, Physics and Zoology. The students were also awarded gold medals and certificates, on the occasion.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali, while addressing the gathering reiterated that the University, at present, has 354 faculty members in 29 departments out of which 133 are PhDs while 107 are MS/MPhil qualified. He further added that currently the University is home to 8283 students out of which 91 are pursuing their PhD studies while 612 are enrolled in MS/MPhil studies. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Ali said that a modern and technologically equipped library has been established which has currently accommodated 171112 books and other than this 45 laboratories have been established for research and experimentation. Adding further, Prof. Dr. Ali said that the University has 58 affiliated colleges that are providing quality education to the students. He further said that AWKUM has signed MOUs with 29 reputed universities of the world including Brunel University, UK, University of Southampton, UK, Massey University, New Zealand, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, North Dakota State University, USA, University of ULM, Germany and University of Kentucky, USA. 56003 students, so far, have completed their degrees from AWKUM.
Mr. Mushtaq Ghani, while speaking to the gathering said that Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan has achieved ample milestones in the short span of 6 years. While applauding the efforts of the University and Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Ghani said that AWKUM is providing education to the people at door step. He further added that the University has not only earned a name on national level but also on international level, in research. He added that the students that are stepping into their professional lives must work hard for the welfare of the society and nation. Moreover, he added that the current government has allocated record amount for education and is taking practical steps under the leadership and vision of Mr. imran Khan. In the end, he felicitated the graduating students as well as their parents.
