50th meeting of the Scholarship Selection Committee was held on December 02, 2014 under the Chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali at the Main Campus.

In the meeting, Dean Faculty of Arts, Prof. Dr. Jehanzeb, Dean Faculty of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Khanzadi Fatima, Register, Mr. Sher Alam Khan, Treasurer, Mr. Tariq, Deputy Treasurer, Mr. Arsh-Ur-Rehman, Acting Director QEC, Dr. Naeem, Acting Director P&D, Mr. Sayim Sohail and Assistant Director HRD, Mr. Afzaal Humayun Khan were present.

In the meeting, 3 applicants for Overseas PhD Scholarships Batch XI, in the subject areas of Management Sciences and Computer Science, were recommended for the University Selection Board, after thorough evaluation, having unconditional PhD offers in University of Lancaster, UK, whose School of Management is ranked among the top 100 in the world, University of Essex, UK, whose School of Management is ranked 100 worldwide and University of Aston, UK, whose faculty of Computer Science is ranked in the top 300 through out the world. With this, the total number of Overseas PhD scholars of AWKUM reaches 82.

The meeting also awarded Post-Doctoral Fellowship to Dr. Tanveer Ahmad, Department of Physics, for POSTEC, Korea which is ranked 86 as per the QS World University Rankings 2014/15. With this, the total number of Post-Doc fellowships awarded by AWKUM reaches 8.

It is pertinent to mention here that so far the university has also granted 57 Indigenous Scholarships to its faculty. Other than this, AWKUM also sent 10 faculty members and 4 students to prestigious universities in Turkey under Mevlana Exchange Programme this year.

On the occasion Prof. Dr. Ali reiterated that the journey through out these 50 meetings has been extremely fruitful and we have been able to award numerous scholarships to the outstanding candidates. He further added that we have been constantly providing opportunities for the competent and talented individuals to excel in their subject areas by doing PhD in world class universities of the technologically advanced countries. He also said that we will continue providing opportunities, for higher education, to the deserving candidates which will eventually have a great impact on the development, prosperity, economy and overall standard of education of the region in particular and Pakistan in general.
