Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali visited the site of Koi Tangay Kandaray at Mian Khan Village of Katlang Teshil, District Mardan, on November 23, 2014.

Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali, a renowned Archaeologist, accompanied by officials of the University paid an extensive visit to the site of Koi Tangay Kandaray at Mian Khan Village of Teshil Katlang on November 23, 2014. The purpose of this visit was to investigate and examine the progress of AWKUM’s ongoing archaeological excavations at the said site. During the visit, Mr. Abid-ur-Rehman (Field Director) briefed the Vice-Chancellor about the excavation strategy and displayed a few unearthed objects on the site for the purpose to visualize the past glories through material evidence.

Prof. Dr. Ali as an Archaeologist and Project Director of the said excavation testified and confirmed the existence of Indo-Scythian period after examining all the recovered objects particularly the coins and the exposed massive structures. Prof. Dr. Ali instructed the Field Director to contact respective Chairman’s of the Department of Environmental Sciences, Zoology, Botany and Education for the study of past and current environment, hazards, flora and fauna of the respective area. This data will certainly help us produce a scientific publication, said by Prof. Dr. Al.i

Prof. Dr. Ali appreciated the efforts made by the excavation team and congratulated Mr. Amirzeb and Riaz (senior students of the Tourism and Hospitality Department, AWKUM) for their outstanding field assistance/training.
