The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali reiterated that Pakistan and Azerbaijan are connected through various historical and religious relations. He further added that sports can play a vital role in reviving these relations among the people on both sides, this he said while talking to the delegation of Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, upon invitation of Malik Saad Trust, on their visit to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The delegation consisted of Senior Adviser, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Wagar Ahmad, Chief Football Sector, Azerbaijan, Mr. Ali Niaz Mirza Yusuf and Mr. Norlan. Senior Journalist and Convener Malik Saad Trust, Mr. Amjad Aziz Malik was also present on the occasion.
The delegation paid an extensive visit to the Garden Campus, AWKUM, where they were briefed that it is the biggest project of South Asia in the field of Higher Education and will play an essential part in promoting and strengthening Higher Education. The delegation took keen interest in the various sports facilities provided by the Department of Sports, AWKUM at Garden Campus.
The Director Sports, Mr. Farooq Hussain briefed the delegation about the different ongoing educational activities in the field of sports. On the occasion, a friendly Tug of War contest was organized, between the delegates and University students, which was won by the delegation of Ministry of Youth and Sports, Azerbaijan.
Later, the delegation paid an extensive visit to Main Campus where they briefly inspected the various galleries in the University Museum. The delegation then held a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor where they were presented the University Souvenirs.
On the occasion the Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali reiterated that sports can play a significant role in further strengthening the relations between the two countries and AWKUM is ready to extend its utmost support in this regard. He also appreciated the efforts of Malik Saad Trust in promoting sports. The Head of the Delegation, Mr. Wagar ahmad highly appreciated the on campus facilities provided to the students and said that Garden Campus is an educational city which will undoubtedly prove helpful in the promotion of higher education. In the end, he also appreciated the sports facilities of the University.
