48th meeting of the Scholarship Selection Committee AWKUM was held on October 22, 2014 at the Main Campus, under the Chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali.
In the meeting, the Dean of Arts, Prof. Dr. Jehanzeb Khalil, Dean of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Fatima Khanzadi Khattak, Director Human Resource Development (HRD), Dr. Amir Zaman, Acting Registrar, Mr. Muhammad Tariq, Acting Provost, Mr. Ibrar Hussain, Chairman Department of Economics, Prof. Dr. Zahoor-ul-Haq, Acting Director Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), Mr. Shafiq Ullah, Deputy Treasurer, Mr. Arsh-ur-Rehman, Acting Director Planning & Development, Mr. Sayim Sohail, Assistant Registrar Establishment, Mr. Hassan Khan and Assistant Director HRD, Mr. Afzaal Humayun Khan were present.
In the meeting, applications for Overseas PhD Scholarships Batch-XI were discussed and evaluated. The said scholarships were advertised on August 14, 2014 and September 01, 2014 was last date for the submission of application forms along with required documents. Among the shortlisted applicants, the committee unanimously recommended 5 candidates, having unconditional PhD admissions in top class universities of the technologically advanced countries of the world, in the subject areas of Computer Science, Environmental Sciences and Management Sciences for Selection Board. These 5 candidates will be asked to appear before the upcoming Selection Board.
The meeting also discussed and evaluated applicants (AWKUM Faculty) for Post-Doctoral Fellowship Programme. The committee unanimously awarded Post-Doctoral Fellowships to the following 5 faculty members in the high ranked universities, of the technologically advanced countries of world, mentioned against their respective names.

In light of the recently signed MoUs with Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand and Massey University, New Zealand, it was unanimously decided in the meeting that the faculty of AWKUM will be encouraged to secure PhD admission in these two world class universities having QS world ranking of 275 and 346 respectively. Furthermore, the meeting appointed Prof. Dr. Zahoor-Ul-Haq as a focal person for collaborating with Victoria and Massey University to arrange staff training courses for the administrative staff of AWKUM. Through the staff training courses/programmes, the staff of AWKUM will be trained and groomed professionally by the international trainers at Victoria University and Massey University, New Zealand. Furthermore, AWKUM will also collaborate with these universities and other reputed universities of the world to send our PhD faculty to, for Post-Doctoral Fellowship. It was also decided in the meeting that AWKUM will also hold training sessions at the Main Campus, in the Summer Vacations, for the administrative staff to develop their skills and strengthen them professionally.
On the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali congratulated the 5 faculty members on being awarded Post-Doctoral Fellowships at the reputed universities of the technologically advanced countries of the world. Prof. Dr. Ali further added that it’s a matter of just a few years from now that AWKUM will be spotted in the list of the top 10 universities of the country. While talking to the attendees of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Ali said that AWKUM has and is providing a plethora of opportunities to its faculty and each faculty member must enable him/herself to make the most out of these opportunities. He concluded that AWKUM will groom and invest in its administrative staff as well in order to make them deliver the most in a professional work environment.
