The staff of University Museum of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan started archaeological excavations at the site of Garden Campus, Awkum, Mardan from 17th May 2014 under the supervision of Syeda Meher Taban (Senior Curator). The field team included , Muhammad Ashfaq (Field Officer) and Mr. Shahab Ali (Field Assistant).

This is actually rescued work prior to the construction of building according to the master plan of the university. Initially excavation work started in two trial trenches measuring 5*5 m each. surface collection's antiquities includes Kushans period pottery. Hopefully in future we will find the complete cultural profile of the area along with remarkable discoveries.
