ABDUL WALI KHAN UNIVERSITY MARDAN

Meeting of the 10th Syndicate of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan was held on August 18, 2014 under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali at the Main Campus, AWKUM.

In the meeting Mrs. Nasreen Azam Khan, Vice Chancellor University of Haripur, Prof. Dr. Nasser Ali Khan, Director General Technical Education, Mr. Shakeel Ahmad, Additional Secretary Higher Education Commission, Dr. Khalid Khan, Deputy Secretary Establishment, Mr. Khuda Bakhsh, Principal Govt. Post Graduate College Mardan, Mr. Fayaz Ali Shah, Ex-member Federal Public Service Commission, Mr. Aziz Khan, Principal Post Graduate College for women Mardan, Mrs. Haleema Begum, Dean Faculty of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Khanzadi Fatima Khattak, Dean Faculty of Arts, Prof. Dr. Jehanzeb Khan Khalil, Registrar, Prof. Dr. Zahoor-ul-Haq, Controller of Examination, Dr. Riasat Ali, Assistant Professor Department of Law, Mr. Muhammad Zubair, Chief Proctor, Mr. Muhamamd Idris and several other members were present.

In meeting of the Syndicate, the 25th, 26th and 27th Selection Board while recommendations of the 7th and 8th Affiliated Committee was unanimously approved. The meeting also approved creating various vacancies on the recommendations of the 8th Finance and Planning Committee while recommendations of the Budget 2013-14 and 2014-15 were given to the Senate. Other than this, the recommendations of the 6th Academic Council were unanimously approved.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali reiterated that in the 5 years, the University presented its 1st PhD to the locals of Mardan. In the history of Pakistan, there would be very few universities that produced its 1st PhD in such a short span. He further added that currently the university holds 118 PhD faculty members and 93 M. Phil/MS faculty members while 73 faculty members have been granted Overseas PhD scholarship and are pursuing their PhDs in various reputed universities of the world and 57 faculty members have been granted Indigenous PhD scholarships and are pursuing their PhDs in the reputed universities of the country. While concluding his address, Prof. Dr. Ali stated that in 2015 AWKUM will lead the Pakistani universities in terms of the number of PhD faculty members which would reach 248.
