Three M. Phil scholars of the Department of Political Science, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Ms. Saima Perveen, Mr. Muhammad Tariq and Ms. Naveeda Yousaf, successfully defended their thesis on June 19, 2014.
Ms. Saima Perveen of Batch-II is the topper of her M.Phil course work and her Dissertation title was "The United States Engagement in Afghanistan's Turmoil: Strategic Challenges to Pakistan Foreign Policy (2008-2013)" She successfully defended her thesis whereby she discussed geo-political and geo-strategic challenges in the realm of on-going adverse security situation and presented policy options in that regard. She gave thought provoking input on all the arising questions of her examiner. She concluded that Pakistan’s domestic policy should be strong in order to strengthen her Foreign Policy. Moreover, she has 5 accepted research papers and 3 are under review.
Mr. Muhammad Tariq is topper of Batch-I and his Dissertation title was about security Implication in the wake of US/NATO withdrawal. He illustrated the research area with all its essential aspects as the grounds for mistrusts of Pakistan and Afghanistan and the geo-political repercussions on the eve of NATO exit. He has 1 published research paper and 2 of his papers are under review.
Ms. Naveeda Yousaf is M.Phil scholar of Batch-I and her topic was about Pakistan and Afghanistan Reconciliation process that is crucial for today’s security quagmire on both sides of the Durand Line. She fully illustrated her research with required policy options. She has 1 published research paper while 2 are under review.

Indeed it is creditable that the Department of Political Science has four other M.phil Scholars whose dissertations are submitted namely, Huma Qayyum, Nida Zahid, Mehboob Alam and Zahir Shah. Their defense will be held soon.

On this eventful day the Vice Chancellor, Bacha Khan University Charssada, Prof. Dr. Fazle Raheem Marwat, Prof. Dr. Zahid Anwar of Department of Political Science, University of Peshawar, Director, Regional Studies Dr. Babar Shah, University of Peshawar were the external examiners.
