Head of South Asian Archaeology Department, University of Leicester UK, Dr. Ruth Young, who has carried out numerous archaeological researches on Pakistan, visited Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. Dr. Young's work has been internationally recognized in several international journals.
She thoroughly inspected the various departments of AWKUM. Dr. Young expressed special interest in the University Museum. While inspecting the photo gallery in Museum, she said that AWKUM Museum has grown a great deal in short time and has been playing a vital role in highlighting the culture of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
On the occasion, Vice Chancellor AWKUM, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali, Assistant Professor Dr. Shakir Ullah, Hazara University, Assistant Professor Dr. Sathar, Hazara University, Provost, Ibrar Hussain, Director Administration, Pir Asfandyar and Chief Proctor, Mr. Idrees were present.
Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali reiterated that on the occasion of International Museum Day, AWKUM Museum will stay open on May 18, 2014 for the people of Mardan, general pubic and families that would be let in for free to become part of the International Museum Day celebrations with us.
On the occasion of the International Museum Day, various activities will be carried out. Stalls will be set up and decorated for highlighting the culture of the province.
In the end, Dr. Young visited the Garden Campus and highly appreciated the design of the under construction museum over there. She said that the design of Garden Campus is similar to the numerous campuses in UK.
