ABDUL WALI KHAN UNIVERSITY MARDAN
Call For Papers

Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan in collaboration with the Society of Asian Civilizations, Pakistan, is organizing a 3-day International Conference entitled: "The Role of Islam and Buddhism in Promoting World Peace and Harmony" on 3rd and 4th March, 2014 in Islamabad. The concluding session of the conference would be held at the Main Campus of AWKUM. A visit to Takht-i-Bhai, the largest Buddhist Monastery in the World and listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site, for all the guests and participants of the conference will take place on 5th March, 2014.

The sub-themes of the conference are:

i. Global Peace: Islamic and Buddhist Worldviews
ii. Islam, Buddhism and Contemporary Challenges to Global Peace
iii. Respect for Diversity as the Basis of Tolerance in Sufism and Buddhism
iv. Present-day Militaristic Tendencies in Islam and Buddhism: A Critical Perspective

The organizers will provide local hospitality (accommodation, food and local travelling). The scholars will need to arrange their international tickets to and from Islamabad either at their own or through their Universities/Departments.
The interested scholars are requested to kindly send their brief abstract of a page or so latest by 05th February, 2014 with their detailed papers by 1st March, 2014.
