38th meeting of the Scholarship Selection Committee Abdul Wali Khan University was held on January 3, 2014 at the Main Campus. The meeting was chaired by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali.

The agenda of the meeting was to discuss the merit of the faculty members of AWKUM, who had applied for Overseas PhD scholarships. In the meeting the eligibility and merit of the candidates was discussed and Overseas PhD scholarships were awarded to eight faculty members of AWKUM in different prestigious universities of the world. In Computer Science, faculty members, Mr. Ashraf Zia and Ms. Mehwish Kundi were awarded scholarships for Aberystwyth University Wales, UK and Leicester University, UK respectively. In Economics, Mr. Raheel Anjum was awarded scholarship for Eastern Mediterranean University, North Cyprus. In Management Sciences, Mr. Faizan Malik and Mr. Muhammad Yusaf Amin were awarded scholarships for Eastern Mediterranean University, North Cyprus while Mr. Shehzad Khan was awarded scholarship for University of Technology, Malaysia. In Pharmacy, Mr. Zeeshan Anwar and Ms. Tayyaba Iftikhar were awarded scholarships for University of Bath, UK and University of Leicester respectively. With eight more Overseas PhD scholarships awarded, the total number of Overseas PhD scholars of AWKUM becomes 72.  

The meeting was attended by the Dean of Arts, Prof. Dr. Jehanzeb Khan, Registrar, Prof. Dr. Zahoor-ul-Haq, Consultant, Mr. Abdul Haq MBE, Director Academics, Dr. Qasim, Director HRD Dr. Amir Zaman, Deputy Treasurer, Mr, Arsh-ur-Rehman, Deputy Director Planning, Mr. Sayim Sohail, Deputy Registrar Establishment, Mr. Muhammad Tariq and Assistant Director HRD, Mr. Afzaal Humayun Khan.

Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali, while congratulating the faculty members/awardees of the Overseas PhD scholarship, reiterated that from our side we are doing our level best to provide ample opportunities to you however it lies in your hands now, to avail the opportunities and ensure that you make the most out it.
