All Pakistan Inter-University Hand Ball Tournament concluded today. After a series of entertaining matches, University of Central Punjab Lahore stood victorious in the tournament leaving behind University of Lahore with 2nd position and Punjab University with 3rd position.

Teams from 14 universities all over the country participated in all Pakistan Hand Ball Tournament organized by the Directorate of Sports Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan at the University College of Science Shankar. The final of the three day tournament was played between the teams of University of Central Punjab Lahore and University of Lahore which after a thrilling encounter was won by University of Central Punjab Lahore. University of Central Punjab scored 18 while University of Punjab managed to score 13 goals.

After the final match of the tournament, a prize distribution ceremony was arranged in which the Vice Chancellor Abdul Wali Khan University, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali was the Chief Guest. Dean of Science, Prof. Dr. Saeed Anwar, Director Sports Himayat Shah Bacha, Provost Ibrar Hussain, Assistant Provost Ayaz Hoti and Director Sports Higher Education Mr. Nauman were also present in the prize distribution ceremony.

Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali awarded a cash prize of Rs. 24,000, 20, 000 and 15, 000 to the top three teams respectively. While addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali congratulated the winning teams and reiterated that the purpose of the tournament was not to identify the winners and losers however it was aimed at creating awareness in the students regarding such healthy competitions that play a role in building the overall personalities of the individuals and strengthening bilateral relations between universities. He further said that the problems that we, as a society and as a nation, are facing today could only be resolved through the power of education. He concluded his address by stating that the primary mission of Abdul Wali Khan University is to cater quality education, affordable to the masses, at door step.
