ABDUL WALI KHAN UNIVERSITY MARDAN

Industrial visits represent important activities in any academic program that contribute to the achievement of various essential learning outcomes and program objectives. It is part of the curriculum to have industrial visits.  This is achieved through identifying learning outcomes and a suitable industrial site to achieve them. In this regard, Saif Textile Mills was identified as a site to be visited by the students of Management Sciences Department. The visit was initiated by Mr. Shah Hhussain Awan (Lecturer) and was strongly endorsed by Dr. Zahur Ul Haq (Chairman).

The management and staff of Saif Group were extremely cooperative. They briefed the students regarding Total Quality Management. They also briefed the students regarding finance and HR sections. The students were divided into various groups.  Each group was taken separately and explained functioning of the manufacturing plant. A theory has been already taught in the class regarding how the manufacturing units focus on total productivity and total quality but by far this was the first hands on experience on how does a manufacturing unit or plant works.

The students enjoyed the visit and found it a stimulating experience. Students came to know how exactly an industry works, strategies adopted by them, the social welfare responsibilities and their execution. They thanked the staff of the Saif Group by organizing such a brief and informative session. They also thanked the faculty members Mr. Shah Husain Awan and Ms Mehwish, who accompanied them on this important visit.
