Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali, Vice Chancellor, AWKUM in collaboration with the staff of the University Museum has arranged a lecture on the archaeological discoveries of Indus Valley Civilization in India and Pakistan at the auditorium of AWKUM, main campus on November 22nd, 2013. Prof. Dr. Jonathan Mark Kenoyer from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA in the capacity of chief speaker accompanied by Mr. Nadeem Akbar, Director of American Institute of Pakistan Studies have attended the event. Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali (Vice Chancellor), Prof. Dr. Zahoor-ul-Haq (Dean faculty of Arts), Dr. Zia Ullah (Chairman, Department of Tourism and Hospitality) Mr. Abid-ur-Rehman (Curator, University Museum), Faculty of Management Sciences, Sociology, Tourism and Hospitality, Education and their students have participated in it. To begin with, Mr. Abid-ur-Rehman (Curator) welcomed all participants followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran. The formal proceeding was started by Prof. Dr. Jonaton Mark Kenoyer with his extensive lecture on the archaeological discoveries of Indus Valley Civilization in India and Pakistan. Prof. Kenoyer shared his past experience in the field of archaeology of Pakistan and highlighted the latest development in Indus Valley Civilization. Prof. Kenoyer further shared his new theories about Indus Valley history, culture, ethnicity and about settlement pattern. Prof. Kenoyer also express his desires to work with staff of University Museum under the supervision of Prof. Ihsan Ali for the development of Pakistan Archaeology. This presentation was followed by a key note from the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali. In his remarks, Prof. Ali threw light on the distributions of Indus Valley sites in Pakistan and discussed view, reviews and issues relevant to Indus Valley sites. Moreover Prof. Ali ensured the introduction of Archaeology department in AWKUM. At the end Prof. Ali paid warmest thanks to the guests and participants. After question and answer session, the guests were given a visit to University Museum, where the Curator briefed all guests about museum collection and shared future planning for the development of this Museum followed by a visit to Garden Campus of AWKUM.
