The Department of Islamic Studies at Abdul Wali Khan University is striving for the recognition as a Centre of Excellence in Pakistan by imparting quality education and research through trained and qualified teaching faculty with focusing on inculcating research base knowledge derived from the Holy Quran and Hadith and at the same time fully aware of the contemporary world and the unparallel challenges it poses for the Muslim Ummah. With the commitment to offer state of the art learning environment to our students, and faculty. The Department of Islamic Studies was established with this University in 2009 to meet the above mentioned social, national and religious requirements of our country linked with Islamic Ideology.

The basic aim of the department is to promote research base Islamic literacy blended with “Seerah Building” among the scholars of the day in a methodical manner, to facilitate the intellectual and spiritual development of Muslims through meaningful discourse. With this aim in view, the Department of Islamic Studies Programs are unique in a way that not only provides the research base and substantive knowledge in Islamic Studies, they also expand beyond these basic building blocks to critical thinking embedded with the elements of a true Muslim character.
